Outlaw Poet Revue :: Success by Cory Basil

OPR.jpg

Our very first Outlaw Poet Revue went off with a bang -- like dynamite bursting a hole through a rocky mountain to make way for the coming steam engine. I had a wonderful time sharing my new work as well as reading from December 2012's release, Skinny Dipping in Daylight. Jimmy A provided a perfect bridge between poet and listener with his methodical melodies and ambient aliens. And Kevin Max kept to his wits birthing verse after verse like the bearded John the Baptist -- sans locust. Last night was truly a moment to be locked in the time capsule. I want to take this sentence to thank our great friends over at Frothy Monkey for granting us residency for our poetic soiree, and a special thank you to all of you who came out and made it such a great night. We are looking forward to including other weary poets as this thing takes flight. Keep a weathered eye for the second Outlaw Poet Revue headed your way before the year is up.

Grateful, cB

like shedding skin by Cory Basil

like shedding skin the human experience, as i have known it to be, is a collection of establishing and moving on. we find something we long for it we obtain it we hold on to it, and eventually we are forced to let it go. nothing stays the same, even we change. our body changes our skin deteriorates, under the ever changing sun, and our organs fail us leaving shells to rot in the dust or to be burned into ash. evolution revolution confusion reset button, this is how we thrive how we survive. if everything we know turns into something new i figure there must be a preceding chapter, a next thing to follow this thing, something new to establish to move to lose.
